The Mughal emperor was himself the most senior judge of the state. He would sit in court every Wednesday and make a decision. After the Emperor Qazi was the Chief Justice. Mufti was appointed to assist him, who used to interpret the law of the Quran.
The courts of Kazi used to come mostly in religious or property related lawsuits.
During his reign, Akbar had appointed Hindu pundits to decide the cases of Hindus.
Jahangir appointed a Hindu named Srikanth as the judge to decide the cases of Hindus.
