Vakataka Dynasty(Ruler Narendrasen)

The son and successor of the vakatak ruler Praversen-II was Narendrasen(440-460 AD). In his time, Nalvanshi ruler of Bastar, Bhavadattavarman attacked the vakataka kingdom. Narendrasen was defeated and Bhavadattavarman took control of Nandivardhan.

This shocked the power and prestige of vakatakas deeply. But after the death of Bhavadattavarman, Narendrasen again reinforced his position and he not only established the authority over Nandivardhan but also attacked Bastar kingdom and defeated Bhavadattavarman’s successor.

It seems that Kadamba Naresh also assisted in this task. In this way Narendrasen destroyed the power of the Nals(Nalvanshi). His work increased the reputation of the Vakatakas. In Vakataka articles Narendrasen has been called the ruler of Koshal,Mekal and Malwa.

He had these territories under his sphere of influence.but his authority over Malwa was short lived and Skandguptagain won again.

Empire expansion of Skandagupta.

In this way Narendrasen was a qualified and efficient administrator. He revived the reputation of vakataka dynasty and expanded the vakataka empire by conquering some territories of the Nal kingdom.
