Post Gupta Period(Fall of Post Gupta Period)

Adityasen’s son and successor was Devagupta II. He too assumed the title of Parambhattaraka Maharajadhiraj. In the Chalukya articles, he is called sakalottarapathanath. There is no article of his reign. After this Vishnugupt and then jeevitgupt II became a king. The titles of Parambhattaraka Maharajadhiraj have also been used for both of them.

But till his time, that is, till 725 AD, the empire built by Adityasen remained secure. Only the article of Jeevitgupt is found from Devbarnak. He was the last great ruler of this dynasty. According to BP Sinha, the Jivitgupta II ended by Kannauj King Yashovarman.

The Vaakptirajkrit shows, that Yashovarman invaded eastern India and killed the ruler of Magadha. The King of Magadha should be identified with Jivitgupta II.

The Magadha Empire of the Uttaragupta came to an end with Jivagupta and a situation of chaos and chaos arose again in the Ganges Valley.

The Uttaragupta dynasty was an important dynasty in the history of Magadh. The kings of this dynasty followed the political and cultural traditions of the Chakravarti Guptas. He rose from the ordinary feudal position to establish his sovereign rule over the central part of the Magadh Empire. His reign in the history of Magadha Empire can be considered a symbol of the continuity of the Gupta-sovereignty and traditions.
