Mahasen Gupt

After Damodargupt, his son Mahasengupt became the ruler. Praising his power is said in the Afsdh article, that he was a pioneer among the brave and earned the fame of being the best mighty in society.

The article shows that he defeated the Assam king Susthitavarman on the banks of the river Lohitya (Brahmaputra), so that his fame was sung on both banks of the river. He was the father of Bhaskarvarma, a friend of the defeated king Harsh. Sudharkar chattopadhyay’s view is, that at this time Mahasengupt Maukhari accepted the subjection of king Avantivarma. That is why Mahasengupt is not called Maharajdhiraj.

He conquered Assam on behalf of his emperor Avantivarma. Raychaudhuri is of the view that Mahasengupta had established a relationship in the Pushyabhuti dynasty only by being frightened by the increasing power of the Maukharis.
