Harshvardhan and Kamrup

King of Kamarup Bhaskaravarma was a contemporary of Harsh. Kamarup had established a friendly relationship with Harsh through his ambassador named Hansbeg. He remained her friend till Harsh’s life. Huensang stayed in Bhaskaravarma’s court and Harsh sent his envoy to call him.

Bhaskaravarma sent him saying that he would prefer to give his head in exchange for a Chinese traveler. Harsh was furious at this and asked to send his head immediately. Hearing this, Bhaskaravarma became very frightened and appeared himself in front of Harsh with the Chinese traveler. This suggests that he was afraid of Harsh’s power. Huanseang states that he attended the ceremonies of Prayag and Kannauj.
