The description of Hieunsang suggests that he died shortly before 637 AD. According to the biography of Hieunsang , Harsh attacked and captured Kongod (Ganjaam) which is in Orissa. This reign was situated on the banks of the bay of bengal south of the Mahanadi. Shashank Kingdom was here earlier. It is also learned that Harsh had donated the income of 80 big villages in Orissa to a Buddhist scholar named Jayasen, who was famous for his scholarship. This was only possible, when his authority was on Orissa. It is clear from this that Orissa had come out of Shashank’s authority at this time and came to Harsh’s authority.
